Write To Congress - spend a couple hours a week printing out and mailing the articles about CPS you have found to congresspeople, and letting them know what reforms you want to see. I am asking that all investigation powers be taken from CPS and placed with the police, who should only detain the children of people who are relativeless, whose parents are going to be criminally prosecuted. All Juvenile Courts should be closed and all juvenile matters tried in open criminal court with constitutional due process protections. Child welfare social workers would have a drastically reduced caseload of only children who have no relatives, who need foster care. Adoption should be abolished entirely. Those are my requests -- and I encourage you to study the situation and make your own list.

Write to the Media! - try to make it a goal to write one or two letters to editors of newspapers every day, to let them know how you feel about child welfare services. Editors are usually very helpful about publishing our letters on their opinion page. This is especially helpful if your legislator is not interested in what your emails or letters say. If you feel your legislator is ignoring you and your concerns about family rights, then let the public know through a letter to the editor, something that might make your legislator think twice.

Raw, smashed eggs go via mail - 11/30/2000 - in Maine, raw eggs are used to protest state child abduction policies. I actually think this is a good idea! At least the people got their list of demands in the newspaper there. Do you think 1000+ polite letters of protest did that?

Protest March at a Judge's Residence in Missouri - this protest march was to bring attention to the judge's alleged conflict of interest - she was presiding over juvenile court cases while at the same time receiving money for housing a foster child.

Petition to the
United Nations
This petition asks the United Nations to help assure our rights to protection of the sacred bond between parents and children. It was started on Easter Sunday, April 15, 2001 by a mother who has fled to Canada as a refugee, Diane Booth, formerly of Santa Clara County, California. Her son, Vincent, 7, remains imprisoned in the Santa Clara County system, last known to be an inmate of the Eastfield-Ming Quong child detention center. According to Ms. Booth, the state was forcing him to take dangerous psychotropic medications to maintain control over him.

The petition has been the subject of attacks by an anti-United Nations activist in at least nine online forums. I continue to keep it on my website because I believe that regardless of the political value of the United Nations, this international organization can put embarrasing sanctions on the United States for human rights violations.

This does not represent my support of the United Nations in general, but merely shows that I believe that the UN may be able to sanction the USA in a way that would influence our national legislators to change child welfare laws. It is my intention to support all reasonable efforts for resolving the problem of unjust child welfare laws.

Shortly after this petition began, the United States lost its seat on the UN Human Rights Commission for the first time since its inception in the 1940's. Loss of this position was highly embarrasing to the USA and was covered extensively in international news. This is a good time to let the UN know about USA human rights violations.
